Center for International Studies, CIRS is a nonprofit independent Ukrainian research organization.

Established in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2001, CIRS is committed to providing the public with answers on the most pressing issues in the Ukrainian foreign policy, fostering a public debate that helps better assess Ukraine's performance in world politics, ensuring the equitable dissemination of the information related to the foreign policy of Ukraine, and providing the decision makers with insights on vital issues in international affairs.

At CIRS we value independent research the most. Our mission is to look for alternative solutions, to generate innovative ideas, and to employ professional standards in order to assist the Ukrainian government with coping with foreign policy and international relations issues. By drawing the experts trained at world's leading schools, CIRS creates a solid basis for unbiased policy recommendations and original research that introduce brand new techniques and approaches.

Pursuing its mission, today, Center for International Studies undertakes the following initiatives:

• Policy Recommendation Initiative

By bringing together a cohort of distinguished international and Ukrainian professionals and analysts, CIRS creates a potent network capable of identifying and solving key challenges in Ukraine's foreign policy. The core values of policy recommendations at CIRS are professionalism, impartiality, and national interests.

The main product of the Initiative is a set of policy memos that are produced and delivered to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the President of Ukraine, the Parliament, and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

• International Relations and Security

CIRS performs research on international affairs and concerns itself primarily with regional and global security issues affecting both Ukrainian foreign policy and world politics. Through its regular commentaries CIRS informs the public about the threats to global and regional security and fosters dissemination of unbiased and objective information.

• Education

CIRS is dedicated to constant improving of higher education standards in Ukraine. By committing additional resources and drawing external expertise CIRS creates opportunities for the students of international relations and all interested individuals in Ukraine to further enhance their knowledge on the subject. Specifically, Center for International Studies focuses on International Conflicts and Contemporary Nationalism.

• Professional Network

CIRS links research organizations, academic institutions, professional associations, resource centers, and governmental agencies with a view to creating a network for an unbiased research and analysis in international relations, foreign policy, and security issues. We are determined to achieve a greater involvement of all relevant individuals and institutions that want to make a difference and assist the Ukrainian government with understanding the processes that shape contemporary international agenda.

By combining the resources, views, and expertise of the Network participants, Center for International Studies develops the policy recommendation mechanism in Ukraine and creates an effective public policy debate. Through its partners and contributors, CIRS attracts additional resources that allow both the government and all interested individuals to broaden their access to the up to date information on the issue and stay conversant with major developments in the field.
